Centering Black Ancestral Wisdom for Collective Remembrance
Sunday, February 22 | 2:00–4:00 PM
Ancestors Bosom Herbal Apothecary in Savage Mill, Maryland
Limited to 15 participants
Join us for an intimate, in-person, hands-on gathering in honor of Black History Month—inviting remembrance not only as history, but as living wisdom held in the body, the land, and the ancestors.
Remembering the Roots is a two-hour, in-person ancestral herbal workshop focused on connection, reverence, and ritual. This gathering is open to people of all backgrounds and is intentionally centered in Black ancestral traditions, with care given to cultural context, lineage, and respect.
Participants will work with dried herbs traditionally used for ancestral remembrance and spiritual connection. Through touch, scent, and guided presence, we will explore their spiritual properties, health-supportive qualities, and ritual uses—approaching herbs as allies and carriers of memory.
Each participant will create a personal ancestral remembrance pouch, a culturally grounded and respectfully framed practice sometimes known as a mojo bag or medicine pouch. Cultural and historical context will be shared to support respectful and ethical engagement.
Each participant will also receive:
- A curated ancestral connection gift box, handcrafted by the facilitator
- The e-book Remembering the Roots: A Gentle Guide to Reclaiming Ancestral Wisdom
Light refreshments will be served. This gathering is limited to 15 participants to preserve intimacy, presence, and depth.
